Mission/Vision/Strategy: APDRA aims to promote and develop sustainable peasant fish farming.

Delphine LETHIMONNIER is an agricultural engineer specialising in animal production. After a first experience in tropical marine aquaculture, where she collaborated on artificial reproduction, genetic selection and domestication programmes, she joined APDRA in 2013 to manage fish farming development projects with family farms in Madagascar, Ivory Coast and Cameroon. Since 2019, she has been the scientific and technical coordinator of APDRA, where she supervises action research activities aimed at the agro-ecological intensification of family fish farms and leads scientific partnerships. The search for solutions is oriented towards the specific socio-economic realities of farms and local rural dynamics. The proposed intervention approach aims both to enhance local know-how and to produce new knowledge to support fish farming innovation.

Can Tho University (CTU), Vietnam
Activities: education, research and technical transfer
Mission/Vision/Strategy: Offering undergraduate and graduate educational programs in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries. Conducting researches related to aquaculture development, aquatic environment, fisheries resource management, and marine biodiversity. Transferring technologies of aquaculture and fisheries to farmers and the commercial production sectors in the Mekong delta and related region.

Dr. Tran Le Cam Tu was born on 10 October 1982 in Can Tho, Vietnam. After BSc graduation in College of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Can Tho University (CAF – CTU), she started to work at CAF – CTU in 2006. She graduated MSc at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in 2010 with an MSc thesis on “The energy partitioning of striped catfish”. Since 2012, Tran Tu is employed as a lecturer of Aquatic Animal Nutrition at Can Tho University. She participated in many small Vietnamese national/international collaborative projects about shrimp nutrition and/or freshwater fish nutrition. Tran Tu did her PhD at the Aquaculture and Fisheries Group of Wageningen University with the title “Factors affecting the quantity and quality of fecal waste in striped catfish” from 2015-2019. During her career, she published science papers both in Vietnamese and English.

Montpellier Institute of Evolutionary Sciences (ISEM), France
Activities: Research and development
The Aquaculture, Biodiversity and Health (AQUABIOS) team develops research on the themes of sustainable aquaculture, biodiversity and health.
The world’s fish production comes mainly from inland freshwater (90%). In the current context of global changes and the need to change practices towards more resilient aquaculture systems, the team is developing approaches based on ecological intensification (e.g. IMTA), which consists of increasing the efficiency of systems with ecological levers while increasing the production and health quality of aquatic animals. The team’s research also focuses on understanding the links between local aquatic biodiversity and aquaculture in the emergence of infectious diseases (animal and human). Thus, the scientific project of the AQUABIOS team lies at the interface of sustainable development of aquaculture, biodiversity conservation, environmental preservation and control of health risks. Our fields of study extend from Africa (Madagascar, Guinea, Ivory Coast) to South East Asia (Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam).

Samira Sarter (CIRAD) is a microbiologist working on food safety in aquaculture. My research focuses on strategies to control microbial risks related to pathogenic bacteria and antibiotic resistance in fish farming in tropical regions. I am studying the development of plant biodiversity-based alternatives to antibiotics, focusing on the characterisation of antimicrobial and immunostimulant plants with a view to enhancing the immunity of fish against infections. I am also exploring the effects of plant extracts on the modulation of antibiotic resistance. She is involved in various international projects aiming at the development of more resilient integrated aquaculture systems based on agroecological principles and disease prevention (Madagascar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Senegal). Having been posted for ten years in universities in the South (Madagascar, Vietnam), she is involved in strengthening scientific partnerships to promote the sustainability of aquaculture and the need to reduce the use of antibiotics in aquaculture.

Jean-Christophe Avarre (IRD). His main research topic is the diversity and evolution of an aquatic virus, Cyprinid herpesvirus-3, which has recently emerged and is causing high mortalities in carp farms. The aim of this work is to better understand its virulence pathways and modes of propagation in traditional carp farms in Southeast Asia. Attracted by new technologies, he devotes part of my research time to the development of innovative molecular solutions for the diagnosis of microorganisms, in partnership with SMEs. He is also co-leader of a Master’s module at the University of Montpellier entitled BILL (“BioInformatics Learning Lab”).

Marc Canonne (CIRAD), Zootechnician in aquaculture. His activity concerns in part the implementation and monitoring of experiments carried out in the experimental aquaculture structure of ISEM at the university. Domenico Caruso (IRD) is a veterinary doctor and research engineer at the IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement). After more than ten years of responsibilities as a veterinarian and Inspector of Veterinary Public Health (ISPV), since 1999 he has focused his own activity on fish pathology and aquaculture, especially in tropical countries (Vietnam, Indonesia, Ghana and Cameroon among others). In this field, he has conducted studies and expertise on the descriptive and analytical epidemiology (risk factors) of enzootic fish diseases, with the aim of providing guidelines for better sanitary management of aquaculture.
Other areas of expertise and studies covered focus on the use of plants for phytotherapy, ethnobotany and fish immunology. For IRD, I have participated and led various projects on sustainability and ecological intensification of aquaculture, organising an international conference on the subject in Indonesia.

Lucas Fertin. I am a research engineer in agronomy and rural development at CIRAD, specialising in the design of tropical aquaculture systems. The main research focus is the design of integrated multi-trophic aquaculture systems. This work is carried out using methods inspired by the coactive solution finding approach (1). My current mission is to lead the research work of the commercial family fish farming development project in Guinea Conakry (2), a project implemented by APDRA Pisciculture Paysanne (3). We work together in groups composed of stakeholders in the development of small-scale fish farming (technicians, producers and researchers) to identify research questions, track down innovative practices, set up experiments and jointly validate the results.

Kazi Ahmed Kabir (CIRAD). My research focuses on integrated aquaculture in the farm environment. I developed the concept of nutrient management at the scale of the aquaculture system (in ponds). This has allowed me to explore the interactions between the environment, species and nutrients in order to consider more efficient and sustainable low-input systems for fish farming. By further studying the dynamics of the system, I have shown the interest in strengthening the microbial food web of the pond and using non-conventional products, food waste or agricultural by-products as ingredients to feed the pond. In this way, I have made the pond more efficient through a circular approach to food production. I developed an expertise on integrated systems such as rice-fish farming or mangrove farming before joining CIRAD.

Jean-Michel Mortillaro (CIRAD). My research activities at ISEM are focused on the evaluation and design of integrated aquaculture systems following ecological principles (e.g. food web, species assemblage, nutrient flows), with a view to optimising their productivity. My study model focuses on aquaculture systems integrated with agriculture such as rice-fish farming. I am also particularly interested in studying the impact of anthropogenic and fish farming effluents on the functioning of aquatic ecosystems, in order to characterise the health and environmental risks specific to aquaculture. As an ecologist, my skills reinforce those of the DIVA team, particularly in the analysis of trophic flows in integrated multi-trophic aquaculture systems. To do this, I use the natural stable carbon and nitrogen isotope method (d13C & d15N), fatty acid markers, biodiversity indicators, nutrient fluxes and the presence of trace metal elements in the environment and in aquaculture products.

Elodie Pepey (CIRAD). I work on research and development (R&D) themes for sustainable aquaculture in the South, using molecular and cellular biology tools. The activities I carry out aim to :
– Develop field molecular diagnostic tools for the early identification of pathogens impacting aquaculture production systems (bacteria, parasites).
– Evaluate the genotoxic effects of anthropogenic contaminants in farming environments (comet test, chromosomal aberrations, etc.), by developing experimental approaches adapted to our fields in Asia and Africa, in order to have sentinel indicators of the quality of the farming environment on exposed organisms. The aim is to propose more resilient aquaculture systems within the framework of an agroecological approach.
I develop experimental systems that respond to the problems of the fields studied, by building partnerships in the North and South and by training partners in the approaches developed.

Jacques Slembrouck (IRD), Engineer specialised in animal experimentation and in the acquisition of biological bases for the improvement of the breeding performance of tropical freshwater fish. More than thirty years of experience in domestication, fish reproduction and the development of aquaculture techniques adapted to the countries of the South, mainly in South-East Asia. For the past fifteen years, the global and multidisciplinary approach of aquaculture production systems, as well as the participation in the co-construction of the implementation of the SDGs for tropical aquaculture, has been an important turning point in my research activities. The acquisition of concepts and approaches of sustainability and ecological intensification have broadened my skills and oriented my mission as an animal experimentation engineer towards more integrated approaches to farming systems and processes.

Ms. Erna Yuniarsih was born on 7 June 1980 in Bogor, Indonesia. After BSc graduation in Bogor Agriculture University (IPB Bogor), majoring in Aquaculture, she started to work at DG Aquaculture Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in 2005. She graduated MSc on Aquaculture at the Bogor Agriculture University (IPB) in 2014 with an MSc thesis on “Nitrogen and Phosphorus absorption levels seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii and Eucheuma Spinosum on integrated multitrophic aquaculture (IMTA) system in Gerupuk Bay”. Mr. Thay Somony is Director of Department of Aquaculture Development (DAD) of Fisheries Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Cambodia. He is also serving as the Project Manager of Cambodia Aquaculture Development Program (CapFish – Aquaculture – 2019-2023) of the European Union, which is managed by AFD. Somony and his colleagues have devoted all-out efforts to promote and develop aquaculture research, education, development and extension in Cambodia through various development and research projects with IRD/CIRAD, UN FAO, JICA, ACIAR, CAFS. He received his MSc. in Aquaculture from Deakin University, Australia in 1998 and MBA in Foods and Agricultural Industries from Royal Agriculture University, England in 2002. Before promoting as the Director of the Department of Aquaculture Development, he was the Director of Marine Aquaculture Research and Development Center, Cambodia (MARDeC). In addition, he had worked as project managers/coordinators in various fisheries management, rice field fisheries management and aquaculture development (both freshwater and marine) in Cambodia more than 20 years.

Ms. Khum Sros is graduated from the Royal University of Agriculture in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries in 2014.
For the past five years, she has been working at the Fisheries Administration (FiA) on aquaculture sectors and she has also been involved in the ACIAR project on “Comparison of growth performance of Asian sea bass (Lates calcarifer) using three different types of feeds (trash fish, commercial feeds and formulated feeds)” using local ingredients for fish feed and increase sustainability and reduce production cost.
In addition to her different activities at FiA, she is participating in the AquaCAM project as a young researcher and I hope that this project will be a good opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills in sustainable aquaculture. This project allows me to share with national and international partners the sustainability of the Cambodian aquaculture production system and food security, and I hope that this can contribute to its development.

Mr. Hou Virakbot graduated bachelor’s degree of Coastal Aquaculture in 2016, from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. He has been working in the Department of Aquaculture Development (DAD), Fisheries Administration (FiA) since 2017.

RIT Soklim is officer of Fisheries Administration and he graduated master’s degree in Microbiology in 2019, from Pukyong National University, South Korea. He has worked in the Department of Aquaculture Development (DAD), Fisheries Administration (FiA) since 2020.
In aquaculture sector, he has involved in Emergency Covid-19 Aquaculture Respond project in 2020. In this project, he focused on the new technique of aquaculture practice and diseases management. In additional, he worked in the Cambodia Agriculture Sector Diversification project (CASDP) which involved in good aquaculture practice and disease management. This project will be started by October, 2021.

Dr. Chantol Peng is Head Research Unit of Water and Environment at Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC). Her researches focus on the monitoring and characterizing of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and pathogens in food/fish and water environment. She also studies the bacteriophage that can be used to control human/animal pathogens.

Biology and Ecology of Aquatic Organisms Laboratory – IUPA/UCAD, Senegal
Mission/Vision/Strategy: regional vocation of IUPA is reinforced each year by the origin of its students (Gabon, Mauritania, Guinea, Comoros, Djibouti, Senegal, etc.):
- To offer an initial training service and a continuous training service,
- to offer training leading to qualifications to young people and to enable workers in the targeted sectors to adapt to technological developments, working conditions, climate change and to promote their social advancement,

Professor Jean FALL was born in Senegal in June 1977. After a Master of Science in Aquaculture at the National Taiwan Ocean in 2005, he obtained in 2011 his PhD of Applied Biological Science in Marine Resources Option: Aquaculture at the University of Miyazaki (Japan). Back in Senegal, he joined the academic world in 2011 as Assistant at the Institut Universitaire de Pêche et d’Aquaculture (IUPA) of Cheik Anta Diop University. He did bi-annual Postdoc from University of Miyazaki to Osaka Institute of Technology of Japan from 2014. Since 2018, he is an Assimilated Professor in Aquaculture at IUPA. At IUPA, Jean Fall is the Head of Aquaculture, actively participating in the training of students and PhD students. From 2015 to 2020, he was in charge of the agro-fish farming courses at the Amadou Hampaté BA University (UAHB) in Dakar. He coordinated the project ”Breeding and larval rearing trials of abalone (Haliotis tuberculata) in Senegal” funded by PAES/UEMOA in 2013. From nutrition to pathology of fish and shrimp, he has experience in hatchery management and reproduction of fish (tilapia, catfish, grouper, sea bream), crustacean (shrimp) and mollusc (abalone, oyster and mussel). He is a consultant to AQUAPOLES FONSIS (Senegal), TCDC (Cameroon) through IFAD’s Promotion of Aquaculture Entrepreneurship Project (PPEA), TCDC (Rwanda) in fish and poultry feed formulation and manufacturing and feed quality control in Rwanda and a fisheries expert for JICA in January 2012 through TCP/SEN/ JICA for Capacity Building Organizational Skills and Leadership Training Professionals in Artisanal Fisheries With over 40 publications, he has also participated in the PISCI/FNRAA/WAAPP2 project on Adaptation, Dissemination and Adoption of Technologies for Mass Production of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Fry in Senegal.

Paul Mamadou NDOUR is a PhD student in fisheries and aquaculture sciences at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD/Senegal) in partnership with the AQUABIOS (Aquaculture, Biodiversity, Health) team of the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD/Montpellier), within the joint research unit of Institute of Evolutionary Science of Montpellier (UMR ISEM). He is working on the selection of medicinal plants and herbs that would boost growth and reinforce the immunity of Nile tilapia to Aeromonas hydrophila, a major pathogenic bacterium in tropical aquaculture, in order to limit the use of chemical products and enhance plant biodiversity. He carried out field experiments at the National Aquaculture Agency (ANA) in Senegal, from the adaptation of freshwater species (Oreochromis niloticus) to brackish water, to reproduction (Oreochromis niloticus, Clarias sp., Coptodon guineensis and Sarotherodon melanotheron) and to commercial rearing by accompanying women’s groups, as well as to the formulation and manufacture of fish feed.

Mariama SAGNE was born in March 1985 in Nguéniène, Senegal. After a DUESS 2 in Natural Sciences at the Faculty of Science and Technology of UCAD (Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar), she joined the IUPA (University Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture) where she obtained her DESS in aquaculture. She then enrolled in a doctoral thesis at the doctoral school ED-sev of UCAD where she defended her thesis in 2019. Mariama was a member of the research team of the project “Trial of reproduction and larval rearing of the abalone Haliotis tuberculata” in Senegal financed by PAES/UEMOA in 2013. She was recruited to IUPA as a research professor in aquaculture in 2021. At IUPA she is responsible for the coordination of the EGEA (Ecology and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems) and aquaculture master courses. Since 2019, she teaches courses in aquaculture at the CNFTPA (Centre National de Formation des Techniciens des Pêches et de l’Aquaculture). She has experience in fish breeding and rearing (tilapia, clarias, sea bream) and molluscs (abalone). She formulates and manufactures fish feeds. She has more than 16 publications in international journals.

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Nam Kha studied food science and technology at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Industries Agricoles et Alimentaires – Section Industries Agro-Alimentaires Régions Chaudes (ENSIA SIARC), Montpellier, France, and obtained his MSc in 2004. He then obtained his PhD in Applied Biology and Biotechnology from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Melbourne, Australia in 2012. His research experience focused on the molecular characterisation of antibiotic resistant bacteria isolated from farmed catfish, shrimp and humans. His research interests include various areas of aquaculture and aquatic product processing: safety and quality issues in aquatic product processing, fish pathogens, fish nutrition and feeding.

Dr. Tri Nhu Nguyen got a B.Sc degree in Aquaculture at Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh city, Viet Nam in 1994. Four years later, he got a Master degree at the same major at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand with a scholarship from Danish government. In 2003, he got a Ph.D scholarship from Ministry of Education and Training, Viet Nam to pursue his program at Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture, Auburn University, Alabama, USA. He got a Ph.D degree majored in Aquatic animal nutrition in 2007. Currently he is the Dean of Faculty of Fisheries, Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. His research area focuses on aquatic animal nutrition and aquaculture technique.

Dr. Nguyen Phuc Cam Tu studied Environmental Technology at the Institute for Environment and Resources, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and obtained his first MSc in 2003. He then completed a Master’s degree in Life Environment Conservation Science (2006) and obtained his PhD degree in the same field in 2009, both at the same institution: Faculty of Agriculture, Ehime University, Japan. After studying on bioaccumulation of pollutants in aquatic animals, he is currently involved in the study of sustainable treatment of aquaculture effluents, bioconversion of agro-industrial wastes to aquafeed, use of medicinal plants in aquaculture.

Dr. Nguyen Van Trai graduated his PhD program in Sustainable Resources Management at The University of Newcastle- Australia. His BSc. and MSc. are all in aquaculture. He graduated Master of Fisheries Science (MFSc) at Pukyong National University, South Korea in 2014 with a master thesis on “Effects of salinity and temperature on oxygen consumption and blood properties of young grey mullets Mugil cephalus”. Angela Mariana Lusiastuti (DVM) was born on 26 September 1961 in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. She started to work as researcher at RIFAFE in 2009. Before she worked at RIFAFE, she was a lecturer in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Airlangga University since 1986. She involved with IRD researchers since 2009 till 2020 especially in Traditional Pharmacopeia in Javanese Aquaculture, Ethnobotany in fish farming in Centre Java, Epidemiology of major disease in gourami farming, and Positive impacts of medicinal herbs on fish immunity and reducing pathogenic bacteria. She participated in national and international collaborative research about biological product such as vaccine, probiotic, prebiotic, herbs plant, and immune stimulant. Taukhid was born on 16 September 1963 in Brebes, Central Java, Indonesia. He is a researcher at RIFAFE since 1991 on Fish Health Section. Hessy Novita was born on 24 September 1975 in Padang, West Sumatera, Indonesia. She started to work as researcher at RIFAFE in 2003 Her studies have focused on molecular, microbiology and characterization of aquatic pathogens with emphasis on infectious diseases of economically important freshwater fish in Indonesia. Desy Sugiani was born on 08 December 1979 in Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia. She is a senior researcher at Agency of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Research and Development (AMAFRAD). She is a Doctor of Fisheries Science (Dissertation: Bivalent vaccine against Motile Aeromonas Septicemia and Streptococcosis in Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus). Since 2020, as person in charge of the fish health researcher group under Research Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture and Fisheries Extension (RIFAFE), based in Depok – West Java, Indonesia. She holds nine types of Intelectual Property Right in Indonesian law for probiotic and vaccines. The last two years, she coordinated research and development on innovation of fish disease control based on bivalent vaccines for Tilapia under the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) Ministry of Finance Republic of Indonesia project.

Dr. Lila Gardenia is graduated from Aquaculture Department, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries-IPB University in 2020. Dissertation: Development of Cell Culture and Inactivated-Vaccine for Prevention of Megalocytivirus Infection in giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy). Rani Hafsaridewi was born on 23 February 1976 in Bogor, Indonesia. She completed his bachelor’s degree at The Faculty of Public Health University Indonesia in 2000. In 2004, she graduated Master of Science (MSc) at Environmental Science Study Program at Universitas Indonesia with a master thesis on “Effect of population growth on land use and clean water availability: a system dynamics approach with a case study of Panggang Island, Seribu Islands” and graduated doctoral program at Coastal and Marine Resource Management Study Program Faculty of Fisheries Bogor Agricultural University. The title of the dissertation is Spatial Dynamic Model of Marine and Fishery Resources Based on Fisherman Resilience in Small Islands in Karimunjawa National Park.
Since 2005, she started to work as a researcher at Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Indonesia. In 2005 – 2009, she was working at Research Institute for Freshwater Fish breeding dan Technology. Dr. Khairul Syahputra was born on 10 October 1983 in Sipirok, North Sumatera, Indonesia. He graduated BSc at University of Riau, Indonesia in 2005. After MSc graduation in Biotechnology, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia, he started to work at the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences, University of Al-Azhar Indonesia as a lecturer and head of laboratory. Since 2009, Khairul Syahputra has been a researcher at the Research Institute for Fish Breeding, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Republic of Indonesia. He participated in some Indonesian national/international collaborative projects about environmental bacteria, microalgae, and fish resistant to diseases. Khairul Syahputra did his PhD at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, with the title “Ichthyophthirius multifiliis in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): Immuno-physiological links” from 2016-2020. Samphal SENG, MSc., is Acting Dean, Head of Department of Aquaculture and Lecturer, Faculty of Fisheries, Royal University of Agriculture. Samphal received Master of Aquatic Science and Natural Resources Management (1997- 98) from Deakin University, Australia; and Bachelor Fisheries Sciences (1987-1991), Royal University of Agriculture, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. With more than 20 years of experience in Aquatic Science, Natural Resources Management, Aquaculture and Business Management, Samphal involved in so many development projects as coordinator and manager such as USAID, Socio- Economic Development. Organization (SEDO); United Nations Center for Regional Development (UNCRD), Crossroads to Development (CTD), FAO, CIDA, Danida, CIDA, Canada etc… Besides that, Samphal also used to be a Managing Director of Robenny Corporation–Strategic Consulting Firm from Canada (2007-2017) Being a lecturer and researcher Samphal did and involved in several research and experiment on marine and several freshwater fish species.

Dr. Kimchhin SOK is am an agro-socio-economist, is a Lecturer-Researcher at DRE of RUA since 2008, and I am also teaching few courses on socio-economics and ecosystem system at few faculties of RUA. My PhD, at SupAgro Montpellier in France, was devoted to the evolution of farming and livelihood systems in the North-West Tonle Sap lake of Cambodia. Currently, I am leading few research projects related to agro-socio-economics and environmental research projects funded by the French Institute of Research for Sustainable Development (IRD) of France such as; JEAI-ECOLAND (Young Researcher associates to IRD) project “Change and Agricultural Dynamics in Cambodia”, COSTEA project “Water Development and Management”, AquaCam project “Risk and Prevention on Aquaculture in Cambodian”. And I am a members of ALiSEA and ASSET in Cambodia for promoting research and development of agro-ecology in Southeast Asia.

Dr. Sophea Nhean is a Deputy Director and researcher at the Division of Research and Extension (DRE) of the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA). He graduated Ph.D. Degree in Agricultural Science from Khon Kaen University (KKU), Thailand in 2019. His research expertise and experience mainly focused on horticultural crops, crop production and plant eco-physiology especially rubber tree and field crops related to environment and climate change adaptation. He has worked with many government, international development agencies, and private sector, including the MAFF, MoE, MoEYS, JICA, AFD, CIRAD, IRD, and KKU. I am also teaching few courses on farming system and postharvest technology for agronomy faculty of RUA and other universities in provinces. Recently, I involved in the AquaCam project “Risk and Prevention on Aquaculture in Cambodian”.

Miss. Samnang Keo received bachelor degree of Fisheries Science (2015-2019), Royal University of Agriculture, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She is a young researcher in the project of Aquaculture in Cambodia: Sustainability and Risk Prevention (Aqua-Cam), at RUA. In 2020, she participated as a young researcher in study on “Growth Performance and Health of Asian Seabass (Lates Calcarifer) Fry Reared Using Different Water Treatments” supported by ACIAR Project, which conducting at MARDeC. In addition, she was a technical assistant in a project of Implement of Marine Aquaculture Seed Production Techniques in the Kingdom of Cambodia, which was granted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at Marine Aquaculture Research and Development Center (MARDeC), Sihanouk Province. In 2019 and as the same time of conducting research on “Aspects of Cryptocaryon irritans, Pathogen of Marine White Spot Disease in Seabass, Lates Calcarifer, Under Several Medical Treatment”.

Miss. Sreyni Yoeurn Currently she is a 3 year student in major is fishery science at Royal university of Agriculture. Nowadays in Aqua-Cam Project. Sreyni is an intern student to support the data collection and report writing on fish disease study. Sreyni expects from the project develop scientific capacities and applied research skill in the field of aquaculture in Cambodia. On the other hand, she expects to build her capacity to develop her capacity and gain knowledge on risk prevent and control health risk in animal husbandry and for the consumers. Furthermore I decide to involve in this project because of several reasons. In this project may an opportunity to learn some basic parasitological techniques, Statistical toll, database management and biological collection. Last but not least, all my effort from the work can also help for better decision in aquaculture production to find out in the main problem and the improvement of aquaculture.

Dr. Truong Dinh Hoai obtained a Master’s degree in aquaculture from James Cook University, Australia, and a PhD from Miyazaki University, Japan. His research focuses on aquatic health management. He is interested in developing diagnostic methods for disease detection, including bacterial pathogens of freshwater and marine fish, and assessing the status of antibiotic resistance in these bacteria, new emerging diseases of aquatic animals. He is also team leader in several projects aimed at mitigating fish disease outbreaks caused by infectious pathogens, applying alternative therapeutic applications to antibiotics in aquaculture, such as phytotherapy, bacteriophage therapy and vaccines. He is the author/co-author of 40 international and national peer-reviewed journals and 03 books on fish farm management and disease control in Vietnamese. He is an advisor to many fish farms and companies working in the field of aquaculture in Vietnam.

Assoc. Prof. DMV. Pham Kim Dang, Dean, Fac. of animal science, Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), graduated DVM from VNUA in 1996 and got his MSc in 2001, 2006 and PhD in 2011 in ULg (Belgium). With over 20 years’ experience, his research interests comprise access to animal science, antimicrobial use in animal production, antibiotic residue & antibiotic alternative in animal production. He is the author and co-author of more than 100 science publications.

ASSI-KAUDJHIS Joseph P. is a specialist in fisheries geography and aquaculture. His research focuses mainly on the analysis of fisheries and fish farming policies and value chains. With 20 years of research experience in the field, he has participated in numerous research activities. His current research program, internal to the Geography Department of the UAO, focuses on the sustainable development of fish farming in regions facing water stress and fish deficits. He is the Scientific Director of the Geography Department of the UAO but also the Director of the Laboratory for the Analysis of Social and Environmental Vulnerabilities.

NIAMIEN Kadjo Henri Joel is a specialist in peasant fish farming in Côte d’Ivoire. He has developed several expertises including Monitoring and Evaluation in the framework of fish farming development projects. He has also worked as an expert in a study on the marketing of fish from fish farms in the Centre-West of Côte d’Ivoire. He is a research engineer in charge of coordinating the implementation of research activities on peasant fish farming in the framework of the DESIRA project.

KOFFI Guy-Roger Yoboue, a teacher-researcher at the UAO, focuses his research on food security in the context of climate change. For several years, he has also been interested in the challenges of integrated fish farming in the recomposition of the rural economy. He is currently supporting the FAO in the analysis of social sustainability in the framework of the FISH4ACP project.

He is the coordinator of the UAO-SECALIM team on “Landscape dynamics during politico-military crises in Côte d’Ivoire: influences on the management and availability of agricultural land and food security (D2PCPCI)”.
